US Embassy denies nine Asante Kotoko players visas for DC United game
The Ghana Premier League heavyweights were at the Embassy to begin the process for their upcoming game against DC United scheduled for October 14, 2024.
However, nine out of the 18 players who were at the Embassy were denied visas with the players expected to reapply for their visas.
Kotoko will be playing against DC United in Washington at the Audi Field, in Buzzard Point after beating rivals, Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the Democracy Cup.
The annual ceremonial match, being put together by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), forms part of activities to mark Ghana Week DC 2024.
This is the second time a Ghanaian Premier League Club will be embarking on a trip to the United States to play the MLS side after Medeama SC lost 2-1 in a similar high-profile friendly on October 14, 2023.
The Ghana Week DC 2024 takes place between October 7-12, 2024, in Washington DC, USA.
