There is no way NPP will win 2024 general elections – Dr Asante Otchere
A political analyst and a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere, has projected that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose the December 7 general election.
According to him, available statistics and the various poll results by competent institutions like Global Infoanalytics, Fitch Solutions, and the Economic Intelligence Unit point to the fact that the NPP will not retain power.
Speaking to Daakyehene Ofosu Agyemang on New York-based Adinkra Radio, Dr. Asante Otchere said the NPP will lose the elections probably more than the now-opposition National Democratic Congress lost the elections in 2016.
“NPP is losing the elections; I can say with authority that there will not be an NPP government in 2025. Whichever party will take over government will be a decision made by Ghanaians.”
He highlighted that per the latest Afrobarometer survey, 82 percent of Ghanaians believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction, an indication that the citizens are not happy with the performance of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Ghanaians go to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and 275 Members of Parliament to govern the country for the next four years.
Political watchers say the election is a two-horserace between the governing NPP and the largest opposition NDC.
Both Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Flagbearer of the NPP, and former President John Mahama, who’s the NDC’s Flagbearer, are confident of winning the election.
