There is no load-shedding in Ghana – ECG Boss

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has repeated its assertion that there are no ongoing power outages, locally known as “dumsor,” in Ghana.

The power distribution company has also denied claims of load shedding.

A section of Ghanaian public called for the issuing of a load-shedding timetable but the ECG turned the request down insisting that it was unnecessary.

The ECG in an earlier communique attributed the regular cut in power to some 630 of its overloaded transformers.

However, the EC Boss, Samuel Dubik Mahama, addressing journalists after a meeting with the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament said the challenges with the transformers have been resolved.

“The assurance is that we are doing our best. The lights are going to stay on. Most of the transformers that we spoke about and the intensification exercises are almost done.

“So we should just stay positive. There will be a proper statement as to the way forward. We are currently not shedding load. So we are not shedding load.”
