The team is doomed – Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu after Black Stars’ defeat to Sudan
Former midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes the Black Stars face a bleak future following their defeat to Sudan.
In the return leg of their Matchday four 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Ghana fell 2-0 to the Falcons at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Tuesday. The first leg had ended in a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Sudan’s Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohammed Abdelrahman netted two quick goals, sealing the victory for their team.
This loss casts doubt on the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco, as they currently sit third in Group F with only two points from four matches.
Reacting to the defeat, Agyemang-Badu, who previously played for Asante Kotoko and Udinese Calcio, expressed his dismay, stating, “The team is doomed,” during an interview with Accra-based Onua FM.
To keep their hopes alive for next year’s tournament, Ghana must secure victories against Angola and Niger, who have already qualified, while also relying on Sudan to stumble against the same opponents.
The Black Stars are scheduled to return to action in November for their final Group F matches.
