Summerville explains why he celebrated with Kudus after scoring in West Ham win against Man United
West Ham forward Crysencio Summerville has opened up on why he celebrated with Mohammed Kudus after scoring against Manchester United.
After a goalless first half, Summerville opened the scoring in the 74th minute by tapping in a deflected shot from Danny Ings, thanks to an assist from Jarrod Bowen in the penalty area.
After scoring, former Leeds star Summerville ran to the bench to celebrate with the suspended Kudus, having predicted scoring before coming on.
“I saw Danny [Ings] was going to hit the ball and just anticipated and thought yes I’m going to reach this ball,” he told the BBC.
“A lot of emotions because every forward player wants to play. I try to help the team in any way I can.
“I said to [Mohamed] Kudus if I go on I’m going to score so that’s why I went to him.”
Manchester United equalized in the 81st minute when Casemiro finished off a sequence of three headers. However, just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, a controversial penalty awarded to West Ham allowed Jarrod Bowen to convert, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Hammers.
West Ham will look to extend their winning streak as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.
