Speaker poll: Carlos Ahenkorah snatches ballot papers
The Member of Parliament-elect for Tema West, Mr Carlos Ahenkorah, on Thursday morning, 7 December 2020, snatched ballot papers in Parliament as they were being counted to determine who won the race to be =come the Speaker of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
He attempted bolting with the ballot papers but was given a hot chase by some National Democratic Congress MPs-elect and security personnel who retrieved the papers.
The MP-elect made the move after the NDC MPs-elect began celebrating that their candidate, Alban Bagbin, had won the Speaker slot.
Mr Bagbin eventually beat Prof Mike Oquaye to become the Speaker of the Eighth Parliament.
