Police declare man captured with weapon during NPP-NDC Mamobi disturbances wanted

The Ghana Police Service has declared a man wanted who was captured in video footage holding a weapon during disturbances between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Mamobi in Accra.

“The images of the suspect, identified by his pseudonym as Fatau Motorway, are attached. We urge members of the public to support us with credible information as we continue our intelligence-led operation to apprehend him and other perpetrators, so they can face justice,” a brief statement issued by the Police Service said.

In an earlier update, the police disclosed that one person had been arrested in connection with the violence and is currently in custody, assisting with the investigation.

The police also stated they are working to arrest all the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Nine people were injured in the incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024, during a routine political campaign walk.

Seven of the injured victims have been treated and discharged, while two are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
