Otumfuo destools Ejisu-Kyrekrom Drikro for desecrating the great oath

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has destooled Ejisu – Kyrekrom Dikro, Opanin Kwaku Kyre at the Manhyia Palace.

This was after he was found guilty of desecrating the Great Oath.

The chief who was summoned before the Otumfuo during a sitting of the Asanteman Council on Tuesday September 17, 2024, after his charge was read to him, was made to take off his sandals signifying that his powers had been taken from him and he ceases to be a chief of Ejisu – Kyrekrom.

Opanin Kwaku Kyre’s destoolment comes a fortnight after the Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, destooled Wirempehene. Nana Opia Mensah.

The order for Nana Opia Mensah’s removal was issued at Manhyia Palace on Monday, September 2, 2024, during a sitting of the Asanteman Council.

The well-advanced-in-age chief. who looked very sad and was clothed in black, when summoned before the Council meeting, was rebuked by the Asantehene for swearing the great oath to back his assertions when he knew his claims were false.

For this act, he was destooled and his sandals were removed from his feet signifying that he was no longer a chief.
