No La Dadekotopon lands sold to politicians – MCE
It is not true that the government is selling some prime lands within the La Dadekotopon municipality to politicians, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Kotey Nikoi has said.
“I’m not aware of any La Dadekotopon lands that have been sold to politicians”, Mr Kotey Nikoi told Kwabena Prah Jr on Accra100.5FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom on Tuesday, 8 September 2020.
The allegation was first made by the former minister for the La Dadekotopon constituency, Nii Amasah Namoale, on the same show on Monday.
However, Mr Nikoi said: “Land issues fall under the remit of the Lands Commission”.
“As an Assembly, we give building permits but there are requirements for granting them.
“You must bring the documents covering your land, the structural and architectural designs and every other relevant document before the permit is granted”.
“The Assembly can be taken to court over such issues so we are very particular about it”, Mr Nikoi noted.
According to him, if any lands reserved for the state are being sold to private developers, the Assembly has every right to stop the transaction from going through once it is detected.
