NIA begins registering Ghanaians in US for Ghana Card

The National Identification Authority has commenced registering Ghanaians in the United States of America for their Ghana Card.

The exercise follows the registration of Ghanaians in Canada.

We, registered Ghanaians in Canada, Ottawa, and Toronto on a pilot basis. We then moved to Washington, DC, and we are now in New York. We are testing our system to be sure how efficient they are. So, we plead with Ghanaian nationals who don’t have their Ghana Card to ensure that they register for their Ghana Card from Friday, September 27, 2024. Those people who came to register for their Ghana Card today received their cards. We are testing our equipment; for today, there was not a single hitch; the registration process was smooth,” the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Authority, Prof. Ken Attafuah, said in an interview on New York-based Adinkra Radio.

“Applicants are expected to go online and follow the procedure to register for their Ghana Card; it is very simple. It will not take more than 15 minutes to complete the process. There’s a small fee to pay for the registration; when that is done, the individual will then be booked for an appointment at the Consulate to take pictures and biometrics for the card.” Prof. Attafuah continued.

He added that when the NIA is done testing their equipment in the US, they will leave them at the Consulate, and the officers assigned by the Consul-General will continue with the registration process while they leave for Ghana.

“Our plan is to start the registration of Ghanaians in Europe from the middle of October.”

Applicant in the US is to pay $115 for their Ghana Card.
