Mahama appoints COP Yohuno as new IGP

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Commissioner of Police(COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police.

This comes after COP Dr. Akuffo Dampare was relieved of his position by the president.

This decision was announced in a press statement issued by the presidency on Friday, March 13, and signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

According to the statement, President Mahama made the appointment in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution in consultation with the Council of State.

In July 2024, then President Akufo-Addo appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations.

COP Yohuno is well-known for his outstanding leadership and passion to fighting crime, and his law enforcement career is evidence of his skill and commitment.
