Linda Ocloo completes vetting in under 10 minutes
In an unprecedented turn of events, Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, Linda Akweley Ocloo, set a record as the fastest nominee to complete vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
Ocloo’s session on Tuesday, January 28, lasted less than 10 minutes, with no questions posed by committee members.
Instead, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, simply remarked that the strong delegation accompanying her was proof of her competence.
Committee Chairman Bernard Ahiafor acknowledged her guests and promptly discharged her.
In stark contrast, Defence Minister-nominee Dr Omane Boamah faced the most rigorous vetting session of the day, lasting over four hours.
His appearance before the Appointments Committee saw intense questioning on a wide range of issues, including national security, military preparedness, and his vision for the Ghana Armed Forces.
Committee members grilled him on defence spending, ongoing security challenges, and the country’s approach to combating external and internal threats.
Despite the lengthy session, Dr Boamah remained composed, addressing concerns with detailed explanations and reaffirming his commitment to strengthening Ghana’s defence sector.
