KNUST student remanded over alleged murder of final-year girlfriend

21-year-old final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor, has been remanded into police custody in connection with the alleged murder of Joana Deladem Yabani, also a final-year student at the university.
Tuffuor was arrested on Thursday, February 27, 2025, following the discovery of Joana’s lifeless body on campus earlier that morning. The university’s security service was alerted to the incident and subsequently reported it to the police.
Authorities believe the deceased and the suspect were in a romantic relationship at the time of her death.
Tuffuor was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested that he be remanded to allow for further investigations into the case.
The court granted the request, and the suspect is set to reappear on March 17, 2025.
The circumstances surrounding Joana’s death remain under investigation, as police work to uncover details leading to the tragic incident.
