KATH staff dismisses corruption against Prof. Addai Mensah

A petition calling for the removal of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) CEO, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, has been met with fierce resistance from the hospital management and labour unions.

The petition, lodged by former hospital attorney Kwame Adofo, alleges financial impropriety and procurement violations against Prof. Addai-Mensah.

However, the hospital management has issued a strong rebuttal, dismissing the allegations as “groundless and fraught with inaccuracies”.

The statement highlights Prof. Addai-Mensah’s achievements in improving clinical care standards, modernising infrastructure, and enhancing employee welfare, which have been widely praised by hospital stakeholders.

Labour unions at KATH, including doctors, nurses, and union members, have also rallied behind the CEO, describing him as a “committed and efficient leader”.

In a statement, the unions expressed their solidarity with Prof. Addai-Mensah and the hospital management, saying: “We recognize that the allegations against the CEO do not define his character and dedication to the well-being and development of the Teaching Hospital.

” The unions have urged the public to disregard the petition, which they believe is motivated by malicious intentions. The controversy has sparked a heated debate in the healthcare sector, with many calling for calm and a thorough investigation into the allegations.
