I’m the luckiest Regional Minister – Simon Osei Mensah
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has described himself as the most luckiest Regional Minister to have the most effective, accessible and professional security personnel working with him to superintend over the region.
According to him the competent Regional Security Council (REGSEC) which he heads is the reason why the Ashanti Region has not recorded any major security issue.
“Before the Canadian girls were kidnapped, an Indian had been kidnapped a week earlier and had been rescued. Some students had been kidnapped but that didn’t make news headlines. The Canadian kidnapping became news because the Canadian High Commission got involved in the matter. But even with them, if we had certain equipment, we would have rescued them within 24 hours.
“Today, do you hear any kidnapping case in the Ashanti Region. I have so much trust in the REGSEC. I am the luckiest Regional Minister. I have very professional, effective, willing to work, accessible security personnel. I trust them. When was the last time you heard about highway robbery in the Ashanti Region? tell me,” Simon Osei Mensah said in an interview.
The Ashanti Region has in the last few years not experience any serious criminal activity. Previously, there were constant reports of highway robberies along the Kumasi-Atebubu stretch of road.
