I’ll train one million youth in digital skills to reduce unemployment – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed to training one million young people in digital skills to combat unemployment in Ghana.

He made this pledge to party supporters during the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that creating jobs was his main objective at the event, which was intended to reenergize the party’s supporters and kick off the campaign in the Akuapem North Constituency.

He expressed confidence that equipping one million young people with digital skills would enable them to find work anywhere in the world, even without a college degree.

In his view, this program would address unemployment and close the skills gap, allowing Ghanaian youth to participate in the global digital economy.

“I want the youth to be employed; jobs will be my main focus. I’ll train about one million youth in digital skills because that’s where the job opportunities are. Even if you haven’t been to university, as long as you can read and write, we’ll train you in digital skills so that you can work for companies in other countries while staying in Ghana.

“You’ll be in Ghana but working for companies in America, Canada, Japan, or the UK,” the Vice President said.
