I will institute national day of prayer and thanksgiving – Mahama
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has promised to establish a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving for both Christians and Muslims if elected in the 2024 general elections.
According to Mr. Mahama, this annual event would aim to foster national cohesion and unity, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and development.
During an engagement with the leadership of the Christian and Muslim communities in the Volta Region as part of his four-day campaign tour in the area, the former president noted the next NDC government will institutionalize the observation which was currently done elsewhere.
“We also recognize that spiritually you must intercede for God to open the gates for you so in the United States, in Zambia, in Congo and other countries that I’ve been to, I have been invited to National Thanksgiving Prayers for their nation and so we intend you introduce annually, a national day of prayer and thanksgiving so that we thank God for whatever he has done for us so that he will do more for us,” former President Mahama stressed.
He added if the country was going to “progress and prosper” intercessions on its behalf was essential.
