I featured Obaapa Christie on my song because of the grace on her life – Millicent Yankey

US-based Ghanaian gospel musician Millicent Yankey has revealed why she chose to feature Obaapa Christy on her latest song, “Adom.”

In a recent interview with MC Ogee on New York-based Adinkra Radio‘s entertainment show on Sunday, October 13, 2024, she explained that her decision was based on the immense grace she believes is upon Obaapa Christy’s life, not due to the controversies surrounding her personal life.

“I chose her to be on my song because of the grace on her life, not because of the things people are saying about her. People have a lot of issues in their marriage, and if you haven’t experienced any, don’t judge others whose issues are public. For me, it’s not about her marital issue that recently came up, but rather God’s grace on her life and her music career. I really respect her. We worked together on a program three years ago, became close, and I asked her to be on the song. She accepted wholeheartedly,” Millicent shared.

Regarding the inspiration behind “Adom,” Millicent explained that the song seeks to remind people that it is only by God’s grace that we live and are able to do good things.

“It is just by the grace of God that we all live. Sometimes, when I reflect on where I was and how far God has brought me, I realize it has taken only God’s grace. The song aims to inspire people to not lose hope but to keep trusting God through all situations, no matter how difficult or challenging.

“Most importantly, it encourages people to appreciate the life and good health they enjoy because of God’s grace. People should understand that they are not alive or successful because of their qualifications or family background; it is solely by the grace of God,” Millicent emphasized.
