Ghana’s democracy is under serious threat – Asiedu Nketiah

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has expressed worry about the state of Ghana’s democracy, stating that it is under serious threat.

Addressing the large crowd during the party’s Enough Is Enough demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, he expressed hope the NDC would rescue Ghana’s democracy and urged the electorates to support the party to win the pending elections.

“Ghana’s democracy is under serious threat now. We want to prevail, and we shall overcome. Every democracy has the risk of producing a tyrant, but what tests the resilience of that democracy is our ability to fight the tyrant and restore democracy once again. We shall prevail, democracy lovers shall prevail,” he stated.

The NDC National Chairman stated that democracy lies with the commitment of citizens who are willing to defend their rights.

“Elections alone do not guarantee democracy. It is democratic-minded persons, democratic-minded citizens who are ready to fight for their rights who can guarantee democracy.”

The nationwide demonstration by the NDC is to demand an independent forensic audit of the provisional voter register for the 2024 general elections.
