Ghana defender Alidu Seidu undergoes successful surgery after ACL injury
Black Stars right-back Alidu Seidu has undergone surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament last month.
The Ghana international suffered the injury while playing for French outfit Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 against Lille.
Seidu limped off after just 18 minutes and had to be replaced by Senegalese youngster Mikayil Faye.
Following an extensive examination of the injury, he had to wait till Monday to undergo a surgery as he began his full recovery.
“Victim of a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee during the match against LOSC, our Ghanaian international will now be able to concentrate on his rehabilitation and re-athleticisation. Strength to you Alidu,” wrote Stade Rennais, confirming his surgery.
Seidu will be out for the rest of the season and will also miss Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers in March next year against Chand and Madagascar.
“My surgery went very well! Now to rehab. I’m going to work hard with the help of my people to get back on the field as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for your messages and support means a lot,” an excited Seidu shared on social media.
Before the injury, the Ghanaian has been Stade Rennais’ best player, winning the September Player of the Month Award.
He joined the Red and Blacks in January 2024 from Clermont Foot.
