Election 2024: Ghana in difficult times, needs an experienced leader – Mahama

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has made a heartfelt appeal to the leadership of the Manhyia Palace, underscoring the historic significance of the 2024 elections for Ghana.

During a visit to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Tuesday, December 3, as part of his ongoing campaign tour in the Ashanti region, Mahama urged the Asantehene and other influential figures at the Palace to support efforts aimed at preserving national unity and fostering sustainable development.

He described the upcoming elections as a pivotal moment in the country’s democratic journey, emphasizing their potential to shape the future of the nation.

“We’ve voted eight times in this country but Saturday is different because considering where we are as a country, we need to vote wisely and as I said yesterday sometimes when the war is difficult army generals on retirement can be called back.

“So Nana, I am on retirement and resting, but my party says that given the state of Ghana, we need experienced leaders to rescue the country. So, they elected me as flagbearer to lead the party and go to the polls.”

Mahama also reaffirmed his commitment to the Ashanti Region, emphasising its integral role in his party’s vision.

He further criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting important projects they started during their administration.
