Education Ministry to meet CETAG over 6-week strike
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana(CETAG) is expected to meet the Ministry of Education to amicably resolve the impasse surrounding its industrial action.
Members of CETAG have embarked on a strike for the past six weeks over government’s failure to implement an arbitration awarded by the National Labour Commission last year.
According to CETAG, until their employer complies with the arbitration award by the Commission, they will not resume work.
The Ranking Member of Education Committee of Parliament, Peter Nortsu Kotoe in an interview with Starr News disclosed that their planned meeting with CETAG has been called off to allow the Education Ministry to conclude its negotiation with the aggrieved members.
“The meeting has been called off because the Ministry of Education has also arranged a meeting with CETAG and other bodies. So we want them to meet with the Ministry and then the outcome of that meeting will determine whether we will continue or when we realize that a solution has been found to the impasse then we will not meet them.”
