C/R: Comedian Funny Face finally granted bail

Embattled Comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro popularly known as Funny Face has been granted bail in the sum of GHc120k by the Kasoa Akweley Magistrate Court.

In addition, he is to provide two sureties as directed by the Magistrate Annie Adobor.

It would be recalled that Journalist, Alex Donkoh reported few weeks ago that Funny Face was remanded into police custody after he knocked down four pedestrians at Kasoa Kakraba Junction.

He was arrested following the accident.

He is facing charges of careless and inconsiderate driving and two counts of negligently causing harm.

Alex Donkoh in an interview with New York-based Adinkra Radio on April 9, reported that Funny Face’s plea on the charges has not been taken as investigations are still ongoing. He is expected to reappear on May 10.

The Comedian and actor was first arraigned on March 26 and remanded for two weeks until Tuesday, April 9, when he was admitted to bail.

Brief facts

Per the brief facts of the case, the Prosecution led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Thomas Sarfo had informed the court that the case was still under investigation.

ASP Sarfo previously stated that none of the victims were in court because they were injured and were admitted at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and a Hospital in Kasoa.

He said on March 24, 2024, at about 7:50pm Funny Face, a driver who resides at the Millennium City, Kasoa, was driving a Hyundai Atos Private car with registration number GN 1134-16 from Kasoa towards Nyanyano.

According to ASP Sarfo, on reaching a section of the road at Kakraba Junction on the Kasoa Nyanyano road, the accused person knocked down a pedestrian by the name Theresah Quaicoe of about 50 years and her two children, Elizabert Turkson, age about 5 years and Robi Turkson, aged about one year, who attempted crossing the road.

He told the Court that, in the process, Funny Face lost control of the steering wheel and crashed head-on with a motor bike with registration number M-18-GR 1976 ridden by Sam Francis Kwesi Bible with a pillion rider, Nicholas Ashong.

According to the Prosecution, the Victims Theresa Quaicoe and Elizabeth Turkson were referred to Korle-Bu hospital Accra, for further treatment.

Whilst victim Nicholas Ashong was referred to the Ridge hospital, Accra for further treatment but could not be admitted due to shortage of bed and was brought back to Kasoa Community clinic for further treatment.
