Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has consulted President Akufo-Addo on who he settles as running mate for the December 7 presidential election, reports say.
Dr. Bawumia is said to have disclosed his choice of the Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the President at a meeting at the Jubilee House, Tuesday night.
Myjoyonline.com is reporting that President Akufo-Addo gave his Vice some advice and shared his thoughts however eventually accepted Dr Bawumia’s choice.
Vice President’s choice of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate is coming barely a week after a leaked National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) survey projected the Manhyia South MP as the favourite candidate.
The NPP flagbearer is expected to meet with the party’s council to formally present his choice. If accepted, a formal announcement will follow.
