Akufo-Addo’s government has outperformed all governments in the health sector – Gabby Otchere Dark
A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko, has asserted that no government under the Fourth Republic can match the achievements of the Akufo-Addo government, especially in the health sector.
According to him, the current government has initiated and supervised the construction of massive physical infrastructure at a go, never seen in the country’s history.
Speaking on channel one TV monitored by GhanaWeb, the legal practitioner stated that the achievement by the Akufo-Addo government is unmatched.
“Let me try and take a few sectors; health, I can say boldly, based on numbers, that in the 4th Republic, no government has been able to do the kind of things we have witnessed under Akufo-Addo’s presidency. On three, four fronts within the health sector alone, in terms of facilities, in terms of that amazing thing that former Kufuor built, the National Health Insurance Scheme, where he has taken it.
“In terms of personnel, over the last seven to eight years, over 2,000 people have been employed in the health sector. Look at the number of doctors employed over the last few years, I believe over 22,000, nurses about 165,000 or so.
“My point is that the expansion that we have seen in the health sector, in terms of access to health, in terms of personnel, in terms of even remunerations. There are so many polyclinics that have been built,” Gabby stated.
According to Gabby, almost 90 of the hospitals under the Agenda 111 project are 65% complete.
