Atubiga appeals to gov’t for state protection from alleged NDC attackers

Stephen Atubiga

A former member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and now founder of the National Liberation Congress (NLC), Stephen Atubiga is demanding state security over allegations that his life is being threatened by some members of his previous party.

Mr Atubiga who broke away from the NDC over what he described as ‘’intolerance and vindictiveness’’ under the Ofosu Ampofo-led NDC later formed the National Liberation Congress.

Months after, Mr Atubiga is accusing the party of making moves to attack him claiming some leading members of the party have confided in him to be careful of his safety.

To this end, Mr Atubiga in a letter addressed to the Interior Minister is demanding protection.

“As a law-abiding citizen of this country, the NLC would not and will never take the laws into our hands by visiting mayhem on our attackers, instead, we want to appeal to you His Excellency, President and Commander-in-Chief, the IGP, and the National Security outfit to urgently provide me with security and protection,” part of the letter said.
