Ayawaso North NDC chairman suspended
The Chairman of the Ayawaso North Constituency of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tahiru Ahmed has been suspended by the party.
The suspension follows allegations he levelled against NDC National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Said Sinare.
Mr Ahmed reportedly told Police that Alhaji Sinare masterminded the supply of guns to some youth to cause chaos during the December 7 polls.
A statement issued by the party and signed by the Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, stated that by his actions, Mr Ahmed breached Article 48(1) of the NDC’s constitution.
He has, therefore, been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the party and directed to hand over all party assets in his possession to the Vice Chairman of the Constituency.
Meanwhile, the police have withdrawn the criminal case against Alhaji Sinare.
The prosecutor, Seargent Thomas Safo, told the Kaneshie District Court presided over by Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye on Thursday, 29 October 2020 that the prosecution is withdrawing the case upon “further development in the matter”.
The judge accepted the request and discharged Mr Sinare, who had been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and possession of firearms without lawful authority.
