COVID-19: No KIA arrival has tested positive so far – GHS
No COVID-19 case has been recorded from any of the arrivals at the Kotoka International Airport after it was opened on 1 September 2020, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.
Out of the 300 passengers who have been tested so far, none tested positive for coronavirus.
“So far, we have not recorded any positive cases and that is our ultimate aim. Our ultimate aim is to ensure that people arrive here negative and truly negative,” the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said at a press conference today, Thursday, 3 September 2020.
The government announced compulsory COVID-19 testing at a fee of $150 for passengers arriving in the country as a measure to prevent the importation of the virus.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s active COVID-19 caseload has fallen to 904 as of 3 September 2020.
Only 41 new cases were confirmed recently.
This brings the total caseload to 44,658.
Out of that number, a total of 43,478 people have recovered and been discharged.
The death toll remains 276.
