NIB releases Ameyaw-Akumfi from custody

Former Public Procurement Authority Board Chairman, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been released from the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
He was arrested in connection with a financial probe related to his tenure as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s lawyer, Ken Kuranchie, confirmed his release, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.
Kuranchie stated that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home on Sunday morning when a group of men arrived in three vehicles and informed him that he was needed at the NIB.
He willingly accompanied them to the NIB headquarters before being taken to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
According to Kuranchie, the investigation concerns financial matters related to specific approvals granted during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure as GIIF Board Chairman.
