We’ll ensure government delivers on every campaign promise – Minority

The Minority in Parliament has launched a scathing attack on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of misleading Ghanaians with false promises to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

During the debate on the second batch of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees on Tuesday, January 21, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticised the NDC’s campaign rhetoric.

He however pledged that his caucus would hold the government accountable for its commitments.

Afenyo-Markin cast doubts about the government’s capacity to fulfill its promises, cautioning that electoral victory does not grant unchecked authority.

He cautioned that the Minority would closely monitor and scrutinise every action of the government to ensure transparency and accountability.

The Minority Leader alleged that the NDC’s campaign was based on unrealistic promises and warned that Ghanaians would soon recognise what he described as the ruling party’s true intentions.

He also questioned the government’s ability to meet the high expectations it had set during the election period.

“We will hold your feet to the fire. You think you campaigned and got it handed to you on a silver platter? You will see. You call us a micro Minority, but you will see,” he stated.

Afenyo-Markin concluded by reaffirming his caucus’s commitment to tracking every promise made by the NDC during the campaign, ensuring they are not left unfulfilled.

“Today, you are in government, and we will follow through on every single promise you made while on the campaign platform,” he added.
