Akufo-Addo thanks Ghanaians for eight years of support
As his second term nears its end, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended heartfelt thanks to the people of Ghana for entrusting him with the nation’s highest office over two terms.
Reflecting on his time in office, President Akufo-Addo spoke about the challenges and accomplishments that have shaped his tenure.
He expressed pride in the progress Ghana has made under his leadership, emphasizing the strength of unity and collective effort in advancing the nation.
President Akufo-Addo’s journey to the presidency was marked by perseverance. After two closely contested elections in 2008 and 2012, he persisted, launching a successful bid in 2016 on a platform focused on economic reform, anti-corruption, and national development.
His victory over then-incumbent John Dramani Mahama brought him to the presidency, fulfilling a lifelong dream rooted in his commitment to public service. In 2020, he won re-election, which he viewed as a strong endorsement of his leadership.
In his message, President Akufo-Addo expressed his appreciation for the support he received from the Ghanaian people throughout his two terms, during which he encountered both achievements and challenges.
“As I near the end of my time in office, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to you, the people of Ghana, for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president for two successive consecutive terms.
“This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished together in agriculture, in governance, and in the lives we have touched.”
