2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana coach Otto Addo congratulates Sudan after defeat
The head coach of Ghana, Otto Addo has congratulated Sudan after the Black Stars’ defeat on Tuesday.
The Ghana national team locked horns with Sudan in Libya early this week in Round 4 of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Before that game, Sudan had held Ghana to a goalless draw in the first meeting.
Speaking to the media team of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Coach Otto Addo applauded Sudan for showing passion in the match to secure all three points.
“Congratulations to Sudan. Coach Kwesi Appiah has always been a gentleman before and after the game. They did well. They showed passion in their match, and I would like to congratulate them for this,” coach Otto Addo said.
The Black Stars coach further lauded his technical team for their support although Ghana could not secure the desired results from the two games against Sudan.
He noted that he has had a conversation with his players after the game and is now looking ahead into the future.
“Then surely I want to thank the team for at least trying, knowing that was not good enough. We had a good talk. Afterwards. I had individual talks with players, where we attacked certain issues and certain scenes, and I hope it was suitable. Everybody was down and was really, really hard pill to take. Surely, I want to use the opportunity also to thank the whole technical staff for supporting me even now after the game in our worst days because surely we as Ghana should qualify for the AFCON,” coach Otto Addo stressed.
After Round 4 of the qualifiers, the Black Stars are third in the standings behind Angola and Sudan.
