Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II resigns as Board Chairman of ADB Bank
The Board Chairman of the Board of ADB Bank who’s also the Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has resigned.
A press release posted on the website of the Ghana Stock Exchange read, “ADB announces for the information of the general investing public, the resignation of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, an Independent Non-Executive Director, of the Bank. His resignation took effect on October 11, 2024. ”
The Bank of Ghana cited a recent appeal Collins Darkwah Aboagye, a Ghanaian, filed with the Presidency, alleging unethical behavior by the Board Chair.
A 2-million-cedi transaction was the subject of an alleged case of misconduct by the petitioner, which included activities that could have jeopardized the obligations required of someone in such a high-ranking position, including possible conflicts of interest and financial mismanagement.
Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong’s ongoing service as an ADB director has become untenable, according to a statement from the Bank of Ghana, because of the irreversible harm the events have done to the bank’s reputation.
For this reason, he was ordered to hand over his directorship of the ADB and resign from it immediately.
