Kasoa: Six persons remanded for alleged lynching of Prisons officer
The Ghana Prisons Service has confirmed the unfortunate incident of the alleged lynching of Lance Corporal Gideon Adu Boakye, a Prisons officer stationed at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, which happened at Kasoa Iron City on 29th September 2024.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Service indicated that the officer who sought permission to visit his relatives at Kasoa was allegedly besieged and lynched by a group of unknown assailants.
“The Prisons Administration is collaborating with the Police to unravel the circumstances that led to the gruesome murder of the officer,” it stated.
Adding “So far, six (6) persons made up of four (4) females and two (2) males have been arrested and arraigned before the court. The suspects have thus been remanded for further investigation into the matter.”
The Service said its leadership was committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“The Service wishes to caution the general public against the use of “Instance Justice” in dealing with suspects but to resort to the Police to avoid harming and killing of innocent individuals.”
“The entire Service commiserates with the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased officer and urges all officers to remain calm as steps are being taken to ensure that justice is served,” it stated.
