No tension between CDS and COAS – GAF
The Ghana Armed Forces has denied the existence of tension between the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Pcprah and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Bismarck Onwona.
Media report alleged tension between the two senior military officers.
But a statement signed by Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quarshie, Director, General Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces said there’s peace between the two officers who have a cordial relationship.
“It is instructive to note that there is no tension or discord between the two senior officers as well as the rank and file of GAF. GAF wishes to assure all ranks and the public that there is cordial relationship amongst the military high command.
As such, we entreat all and sundry to disregard the publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves. We wish to once again urge the media to refrain from spreading misinformation that could undermine the integrity and morale of troops as well as the trust of the public in the Armed Forces.”
The statement further called on the public to seek information from the right sources.
” We call on all to support the leadership of the military to focus on their operational and administrative responsibilities to ensure a safe and secured country. We encourage everyone to seek information from official channels and to respect the open-door policy being operated by the Armed Forces.”
