An International Research and data firm, Fitch Solutions, has predicted a win for John Mahama and the NDC in the 2024 general elections in December.
The London-based firm which has been consistent with its forecast since last year argues that 54% of respondents surveyed tipped the former president as the winner in the upcoming presidential election.
Fitch Solutions in its mid-year review for Sub-Saharan Africa explained that the current state of the economy will play a significant role in the choice of voters on December 7.
Mike Kruiniger who is an Associate Director, of Country Risk at Fitch Solutions said, “We believe that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a stronger chance of winning the upcoming general elections compared to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Recent polls consistently place the NDC ahead with the most recent survey showing 54% of respondents favouring the NDC,” he stated.
He continued by saying that voters’ decisions about whom to support will be heavily influenced by issues like job creation and economic management, among others.
This, according to him will put the NPP at a disadvantage given the current economic hardship.
“In addition, multiple surveys have shown that economic management and job creation are going to be the most important issues during the election for voters which we believe will put the ruling NPP at a disadvantage given the economic challenges that the country has faced over the last couple of years.”
