The leadership of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has summoned the Central Regional Chairman of the party to appear before the party’s Functional Executive Committee over the withdrawal of the Parliamentary Candidate for Assin Central, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah.

The Central Regional Functional Executive Committee (R-FEC) of the NDC on Friday June 6, 2024 announced the withdrawal Nurein Shaibu Migyirnah as the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Assin Central with immediate effect.

This followed the interrogation and deliberations on the reports of immoral acts and anti-Party conduct received by R-FEC against him.

A statement issued by the Regional Secretary Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams said the “Functional Executive Committee after conducting its preliminary investigation and examining the matter minutely and exhaustively further consulted key stakeholders in the region and the leadership of the Party at the National level resolved that, Nurein Shaibu Migyirnah be withdrawn as the 2024 Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC with immediate effect.”

“Furthermore, R-FEC has suspended Nurein Shaibu Migyimah forthwith for six month and has referred the matter to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for adjudication. Also, the Party membership of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah stands suspended until the final determination of his case by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.”

But, a letter signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey the action taken by the Regional Functional Executive Committee was “taken without the approval of the National Executive Committee and is considered inappropriate, and in contravention of due process and the provisions of articles 40, 41, 46 and 48 of the NDC constitution.”

“In lieu of that, you are thereby requested to appear before the National Leadership of the party on Tuesday 2nd July 2024 at 2pm together with your Regional Secretary to explain how this letter was sent out without the approval of the party national leadership,” the statement added.
