Minority demands presentation of report of special c’ttee on IGP leaked tape
The Minority in Parliament is demanding presentation of a report of a special Ad-hoc committee on the IGP leaked tape.
The committee chaired by Abuakwa South MP Samuel Atta Akyea was tasked to investigate a leaked audio of senior police officers in a conversation with former NPP Northern Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu to remove Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as IGP.
The report has however been outstanding for months despite the rejection of an earlier leaked report by the committee chair.
Speaking during the presentation of the business statement for next week, Ranking Member for the committee on Defence and Interior James Agalga prayed the Speaker to as a matter of urgency get the report of the Special Ad-hoc committee on the IGP leaked tape to be presented next week Tuesday.
According to the Builsa North MP who served as vice chairman of the committee, the delay has given room for all manner of speculations and thus must be urgently attended to.
Mr. Agalga indicated the report is ready to be presented to the plenary.
Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin in a response, charged the committee to make the report available to the table office for subsequent scheduling by the business committee.
According to him, as it stands, the report is not before the house yet for presentation.
