The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has jumped to a strong defense of Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, maintaining that his credibility is still unblemished in spite of false claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The third defendant in the ambulance case, Richard Jakpa claimed during cross-examination that the Attorney General had been contacting him at unusual hours to obtain testimony against the Minority Leader, Ato Forson. This claim has been refuted by Mr. Dame.
Dr. Forson is currently facing legal action from the state for his alleged involvement in the procurement of defective ambulances for Ghana. He has been accused of causing financial loss to the state to the tune of €2.4 million.
The NDC, during a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, released a 16-minute audio recording as evidence supporting Mr. Jakpa’s claims in the ambulance case against the Minority Leader.
The accusation leveled against the Attorney General has led to a section of the public to call for an investigation into the matter and dismissal of Godfred Dame if found guilty.
But he National Organizer of the NPP, Nana Boakye aka Nana B, speaking at a press conference by the NPP on Tuesday, May 28, hours after the NDC held theirs, insisted that the Attorney General has done no wrong, and that his credibility remains unblemished
“Last week we heard a lot of allegations, manipulated facts, and distorted narratives from the NDC targeted at the Attorney General. The Attorney General’s credibility remains unblemished.”
Nana B dismissed the NDC’s accusations as contrived facts and praised the AG as one of the most brilliant Attorney General in the country’s history.
“He’s one of the most hardworking Attorney General we have had in this Republic. Very intelligent, very smart. And no amount of shenanigans, evil intelligence against him will suffice.”
