DJ Azonto accuses Bawumia of unauthorized use of his hit song, “Fa No Fom”; Seeks $10M compensation

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is under fire from DJ Azonto and his management team for allegedly playing their song “Fa No Fom” without permission while on a campaign trip to Nalerigu in the northwest region.

Asserting that the Vice President’s use of the music violates DJ Azonto’s intellectual property rights, the Rolls Royce Family, DJ Azonto’s crew, released a statement on social media and demanded $10 million in compensation.

“This unauthorised use of our artist’s property for campaign purposes is unacceptable,” the management stated, emphasizing the disregard for the efforts put into creating the song.

The Rolls Royce Family expressed their willingness to collaborate with political figures interested in using their artist’s work, but only through proper legal channels.

“As the rightful managers of DJ Azonto’s work, we were neither approached for permission nor did we authorize the use of ‘Fa No Fom’ in any capacity related to the Vice President’s campaign.”

“In light of this infringement, we demand a compensation of $10 million. This amount reflects the value of the work and the damages incurred to the artist and management due to its misuse in such a high-profile campaign,” they indicated.

The management emphasized the value of upholding copyright laws and intellectual property rights, pointing out that all it would have taken to prevent any unlawful use of the artist’s work would have been to give their management a call.

“We urge Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team to immediately address this issue and take steps to prevent such oversights in the future,” the Rolls Royce Family stated.

“We also request a fair and timely settlement from Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s team to resolve the unauthorized use of DJ Azonto’s song in a manner that protects and respects the intellectual property rights of the country.”
