2024 Elections: We have secured 185 parliamentary seats – NDC
The largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared that it has won a total of 185 parliamentary seats across the country.
This is the first time in competitive elections since the Fourth Republic that the ‘Umbrella party’ has swept such large number of parliamentary seats.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Sunday, December 8, 2024, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, stated that the party hopes to win more seats in constituencies where results are yet to be declared by the Electoral Commission.
“We still have a few that are not completely confirmed, but our count shows that we are talking as at now of at least 185 parliamentary seats that are with the NDC. We will see what happens with the remaining ones that are still in the toss up category.”
The NDC Scribe further stated party supporters have been instructed not to interfere with the collation of results in areas yet to be declared.
“We will make sure we cooperate with the Electoral Commission. We will make sure that our agents do their work diligently. We have sent clear instruction to our supporters to allow for the processes to happen for there not to be aby violence or intimidation. The evidence of the game is the pink sheets. We have told our supporters lets work hard, once we secure our pink sheets, there is nothing anyone can do.”
